Austin Newell

Our Owner/Founder, Coach Austin Newell, had a very successful playing career. He was a 3-year Varsity letter winner at Kennedale High School, earning All-State honors his Junior and Senior years. He was awarded the district Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 as a shortstop and earned Offensive Player of the Year in 2006. 

Coach Austin went on to play collegiately at Baylor University, and the University of Texas at Tyler. He earned All-Conference honors his Freshman, Junior, and Senior years, helping his team reach Regional Tournaments. Once the college seasons ended, Coach Austin played in a highly touted wooden bat collegiate summer league, the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League (ACBL). For 3 summers Austin played in the Philadelphia, PA area, making the All-Star team for the Quakertown Blazers, and Lehigh Valley Catz. He earned MVP of the All-Star game in 2007.  

After Austin’s senior season, he signed a contract to play professionally for the Alpine Cowboys in the Pecos League of Independent Professional Baseball. Austin spent 6 years playing all over the map, working his way up the rankings of Independent Baseball, through the Pecos League (Low A), United League (High A), Frontier League (AA), and American Association (AA/AAA). In 2016, at 28 years old, Coach Austin decided to hang up the cleats for good and start molding the next generation of baseball players! 

He currently lives in Hurst with his wonderful wife Jennifer, and their 3 English Bulldogs (Meatball, Cannoli, and Biscuit).
